NOVEMBER 2013 theme

“If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution.”
Emma Goldman

To avoid the December craziness we’re ending the year with a one month theme.

Animate a dancing loop of your character against a transparent (or green) background and we’ll compile it together with all the others into a writhing mass of animated filmclip goodness to share around the web and screen at Loop for a DANCE PARTY CELEBRATION!!

Join the LoopdeLoop revolution, NOW WITH ADDED DANCE.

There are a few rules to follow in making your loop;

  • it must be animated at 24 frames per second,
  • it must be timed to the beats of one of the tracks listed below,
  • it must be rendered against a transparent or green background (#00FF00),
  • the character’s silhouette must be kept clean, no shadows.
  • it must be submitted in one of our specified formats,
  • it can be as long as you like, from a one beat loop to the entire track,
  • it has to loop!

Choose one of the following tracks to animate to;

“In Fielder” by Miró Belle

“Bionic Commando stage 4 (Dale vs Wray mix)” by NecroPolo

“Athens OH” by Plurabelle

“One Time Pt. 3” by Satellite High

“Bounce Me Brother With A Solid Four” by The Andrews Sisters

If you’re concerned about perspective click here to download an example background to use as a reference while drawing your loop.

If you’re unsure of how many frames there are per beat in your chosen track this is a useful tool.

Selected loops will be posted within five days of submission for everyone to enjoy, comment and rate, and all posted loops will screen at Loop in Melbourne on Tuesday November 26th from 8:00pm, and then again in L.A at a time and venue soon to be announced.

Submissions close at 11:30pm on Friday the 22nd of November.

Visit our submissions page for more details on format and content restrictions.

    • We’ve wanted to have a collaborative theme and dance seemed like the most appropriate concept. Lots of people have suggested it over the past couple of years so hopefully we get lots of submissions!
