IDIOTS screening wrap up

They say that if you haven’t got anything nice to say don’t say anything, but they didn’t say anything against animating it…

February’s theme was an all out assault on stupidity, ranging from lighthearted fun to scathing appraisals of the human race. The bar and screening room were alive with smug satisfaction as the audience watched loop after loop of characters stupider than themselves.

The night was hosted powerfully by Simone, and once the loops had screened the finalists were announced. The loop with the most votes on the blog was by Txesco Montalt from Alla Kinda Studio in Barcelona, and the highest rated loop was by local raconteur Felix Colgrave. The audience vote declared Felix the winner by a narrow margin, and he was presented with a copy of The Internet For Dummies and a dunce cap for his troubles.

As a new edition we’ve introduced a second featured loop to the sidebar based on our internal voting, and after long discussions (ahem… arguments) we have reached a consensus that Alex Grigg’s is our favourite IDIOTS loop.

Anyway, now it’s time to put all this idiocy behind us and get stuck into March’s theme of LIQUID which will be running in honour of the relaunch of MTV’s Liquid Television program. They will be promoting their favourite loops and have also provided us with a prize pack for both the winning and runner-up loops.

Simone was well prepared for the role of host.

As part of his prize Felix was made to wear The Hat of Shame®.

MONSTERS screening wrap up

We’re now three screenings into this crazy LoopdeLoop project and starting to feel like old hands at it. There was a great turnout on the night, with 36 fantastic loops to screen submitted from all over the world!

Following the screening Daniel announced the two finalists, Felix Colgrave for ‘highest average score’ and Shawn Gillis for ‘highest number of ratings’. Their animations were shown again and the audience vote declared Felix our official MONSTER WINNER.

It was a very tight race this month with so many quality entries, and we want to thank everyone who took the time out to create a submission and those who’ve left a review and voted. It’s been a very rewarding experience to log in to the blog and find a new entry almost every day throughout the month, inspiring us to turn off the telly and continue pursuing our personal projects.

So without further ado it’s time to get started on August’s mysterious theme, MASK, which was suggested by local comic artist Jo Waite.

It’s a challenging theme which we can’t wait to watch unfold!
